carving stainless ?

I would like to try to do some carving of the stainless bolsters I am using on my knives. I am making fixed blades with 440c and 416 bolsters. Is there a tutorial on doing this? If not what size and type of files or other equipment are you using?
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks
Steve

Steve, you are lucky enough to be living in the same province as the master of steel carving. Give Wolfe Loerchner a call; he is very generous with information.

Lucky is the word. I'm sure he'd advise you.

Steve:

Just wondering if you were able to contact Wolf? A report when, and if, would be great.

Thanks, Steve

To tell you the truth I am a litle intimidated to try calling him. Somehow it reminds me of a paint by number guy calling da Vinci . So no I haven't called yet, I don't even know the questions to ask that was why I was hoping for a tutorial to at least get me started and show me what I need to ask.

Steve, Go for it! The most he can do is hang up on you.

He's a very nice gentleman. Send him an email, fax, or letter of intro. first, if that'd be easier. Ask him about a tutorial, or a book or just his recommendations on gettig started.....
