carving stainless ?
I would like to try to do some carving of the stainless bolsters I am using on my knives. I am making fixed blades with 440c and 416 bolsters. Is there a tutorial on doing this? If not what size and type of files or other equipment are you using? Hope this makes sense. Thanks Steve |

Steve, you are lucky enough to be living in the same province as the master of steel carving. Give Wolfe Loerchner a call; he is very generous with information. |

Lucky is the word. I'm sure he'd advise you. |

Steve: Just wondering if you were able to contact Wolf? A report when, and if, would be great. Thanks, Steve |

To tell you the truth I am a litle intimidated to try calling him. Somehow it reminds me of a paint by number guy calling da Vinci . So no I haven't called yet, I don't even know the questions to ask that was why I was hoping for a tutorial to at least get me started and show me what I need to ask. Steve |

Steve, Go for it! The most he can do is hang up on you. |

He's a very nice gentleman. Send him an email, fax, or letter of intro. first, if that'd be easier. Ask him about a tutorial, or a book or just his recommendations on gettig started..... |
