History of the "take-down" knife
What's the history of the take-down or take-apart design? I've found information about Buck knives featuring this method of assembly (using a threaded tang and a barrel nut) from the 1940s & 50s in their early hand-made models, switching to flat pinned tangs in 1962. But when, where and how did it originate? Anybody know?

I too would like to know.I do all my through tangs in a similiar fashion and use hidden alignment pins on all my hidden tang knives.I got the idea from Jerry Shorter or Nick Wheeler.The pins realy help keep everything aligned during mock up and assembly and also add strength to the knife.
