It's just a type of mother-of-pearl and works the same way. See a post on this forumentitled, "Mother-of-pearl" for more info on working with it, should you be interested. The set on this piece is a laminate. It's nice, but quite expensive for its size. |

I ask, because my dad has a couple -old- abalone shells, that if I can talk him out of one, might make for some nice material. I'll check out the Mother Of Pearl thread. Thanks. |

Thanks. Some guys liked it in NYC at ECCKS last week-end, but one comment was that Abalone is not a good seller. Must not be, since I brought it home with me. |
