"100 Custom Knives in the Making" Final Knife Photo

I've already posted my photos of this knife but I wanted to share the very cool photo that David Darom just sent me. I'm very impressed by the layout that David did of my pages for the book, especially this final knife photo.

I'm sure most people know about it already but this is for the new book "100 Custom Knives in the Making" by David Darom and Dennis Greenbaum, being introduced at the 2006 Blade Show. Can't wait to see it, never been in a book before!

Dave

Dave, awesome work. But you are in a book. Knives 2006, page 127, the mammoth peacock. Oh yeah, did I tell you how much I love this knife?

Trenton

Dave, I didn't see this one the first time around. Outstanding looking folder. I love the colors and contrasts...

Dave-

As you know, I've been a big fan of your "organic-looking" knives since the very beginning. And I never doubted for a second that you'd come through with "flying colors" with your featured knife for the new book...in this case, it's flying colors indeed!

Gotta love that cool filework combo and the way you so nicely tied it together with the breathtaking colors in the scales. As always...a real work of art!

Stunning Dave, worthy of publication, maybe even a cover. Your best so far

Congratulations my friend,

Mike

Thumbs up

Hi Dave,

Congrats on your entry! David does a superb job displaying the maker's works, and yours is 'rockin' the house'! Nice quality images you submitted.

Really looking forward to this book!

Coop

I have mixed emotions.

This knife is wonderful, but I have to wait 7 months for the book! (sigh)

Thanks you guys!!

Working with David on this project was a lot of fun, but a little challenging. It was like a comedy of errors sometimes taking the in progress photos by myself. My shop is so small that I had to set the camera outside the room in the doorway, stand behind the camera to set up the shot, focus, hit the self timer, try to get around the tripod without bumping into it, pick up the tool or material, and get in to position before the timer went off.

Trenton, Coop took the mammoth peacock photo and sent it to publications, they contacted me for info. on the knife months ago saying they were thinking of using it. It's great to see they did and thank you for pointing it out, I never thought of Knives Annual as a book but you're right, it is.

Shane, This gentleman placed his order almost 2 years ago, if I remember correctly you placed yours last February. Based on that, I would say your knife will be ready by............what year is this?
just kidding, email being sent to you with an actual reply.

Dave

The photographer

The only thing that Dave Kelly forgot to mention was that he also
shot the pictures of the finished knife. His excellent photography
made it quite easy for me to set up the final composite illustration
as seen above....
