Kent, Use the "search" button and find Ed Caffery's tutorial on 52100. He is succinct and presents the process better and more detailed than most anybody else. I do my own HT on 52100 with good results but I'd never get it written down like Ed has. 52100 is good stuff but you have to be very exacting with your HT to get the best reaults. It's a steel that is easier to HT wrong than right. Take your time and do alot of research before you try it. We can compare notes at the next Guild meeting if you like. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild Crex Custom Knives |

Thanks Zombie,
The first one is the thread I was thinking about for Kent. Ed pretty much nails it down. I don't have the set up for cryo work but I do let the blade rest in the freezer for a few days if I'm not going to start the actual finishing steps and "handle" the blade for a while. Appreciate you dogging those down for us. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |
