Eastern Presentation

I'm very proud of this blade, as I've been working on my hamon lines and this one turned out exactly how I wanted. I haven't built myself a light box, so the pic doesn't do the temper line justice. Anyway, it is about 13 inches overall with a 7 1/2 inch blade of W-2. The handle is African blackwood with a handmade mosiac pin. All comments, good and bad, are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

The hamon comes out nicely. The overall design is very nice, the materials are very well chosen.

What's the thickness of the blade?

Best regards

Thats a very nice knife, I like it allot.

Good Design and nice choice of materials, The hamon came out looking pretty cool.

How did you go about bringing out the hamon? I'm working on an o-1 blade that I have taken to a 600 grit, in the right light I can see where it was edge quenched. Did you use ferric chloride to etch?

Darren

Thank you both.

Darren -- It's pretty tough to get a good hamon out of 0-1. I did an etch on it, then scrubbed dark off the blade.

Nice knife, I like the guard alot.

Darren, Try this mix, 2/3rds of the mix is water the remaining 1/3 is ferric chloride and vinager in equal parts. Etch for 10 minutes, card with scotch brite pad and repeat untill you get the amount of hammon showing you want. This has worked well with O-1 for me.
