Stitch

I had several comments about the stitch used for Caps knife. I emailed Steve and would be glad to show it here if I can get Cap to photo the process. It is a simple and eye-catching stitch. I would reall like to see other different stitches being used if there are any. DC, surely you have one or two you could show. Trav

Trav, I did but I had to go way back in the archives of my computer and find them.I haven't done any alternative stitchs for awhile. No real reason for not doing them more often just got into doing lacing. Now remember these are some of my early sheaths so don't laugh to much . Dave

The first one is an "Arrowhead" stitch.Paul Long showed me this one.

This is how Paul explained it:
this is a single needle set up
To start, come through the back side of hole # 2 and up through #1
needle is now on the back
drop down to #2 and come through again, and then back up through #1 again
needle is on the backside of #1 and you have a double stitch between #1 and #2
drop down to #3 coming through from the back and go under the double loop
between #1 and #2
go back through #3
drop down and come through #4 fro the back
go under the double loop between #2 and #3 and back through #4
and so on
He used a dab of Elmer's glue on each ending stitch and cut flush.

The other one I know is even farther back.It is the "Stair step" stitch. This is also a single needle stitch.
you come from the back through #1 and back down through #2
and back up through #1
then forward to #3, then back and up through #2and down to #4alternating sides as you go.Forward two and back one

The sheath in the middle has a stairstep stitch

Travis - I'll be in Greenville this weekend, provided I can keep my truck running. Maybe we can get you down as far as Alan's for a few hours and take some photos - I can try to swing up there also.

DC. thanks for the info. I may bug you a little more about the first pic. I can see some possibility there. The second one ,I understand pretty well. I swear, we need to get you and Sandy here for a long week-end and just work on leather. I know the other guys are there too, but just too far away. Thanks again.
Cap, have to work the airport for the week-end but will be off after 4pm each day. Trav
