++Vid added++ New Grinder made in UK (England)

Well finally got my new Grinder

In UK we pretty much have to make or modify most are based on a KMG style

I have a freind who has been making knife grinders fo ra while and tho i could do it my self its a lot easier, quicker and cheaper in the long run
this is my 3rd of him

Tho not a lot wrong with my old Aly Maxi Grinder Ive used on countless blades over the last 3yrs
But i wanted a inverter speed control over the pulley system
and after looking about and talking ot John and belt suppliers I also wanted it faster to match the working speed of the 36 Gt ceramics and trizac finishing belts i use this is 5500 ft / min
my grinder does 3600ft/min
and the new std direct drive Maxi does 2900ft/min

which if you come of a cheap clarke grinder conversion is very fast but a fair bit slower than the optimum
plus as I do a lot of blades any help speeding up the grinding soon adds up
also the pulley tho it steps up the speed does lose torque where the Inverter does not 8)

So after a discussion and PMs with Ali we came to an agreement on speck

a 3000 rpm 50Hz 3phaze 2HP motor which the inverter will over drive to 60hz to give 3600rpm

a 6" drive wheel (std is 4" ) which gives 50% more FPS at a given RPM

Ali has uprated the rollers with 12mm bearings (std is 10mm) and used solid aluminium Rollers (current models get Poly prop )

a quick call last week he said it was done but will be fitting some spark guards (tho recommended he dosnt usually do that :O as std)

so here it is

its smaller , lighter faster than the old models
and its also a lot quieter and virtually vibration free which does lull you in to a false sence of security
as its a lot lot faster and more powerfull :]

The 6" drive wheel which is changable for a 4" 3" or even an 8" :O

Lot more space on the bench now

Found the Settings so have set it to show RPM and set the min as 400 which is about as low as it will go with out easily stalling

Ive also set the ramp up and down from 5 sec each to 2.5 to speed change overs
this will be us full when i get a 14" Contact wheel as the 10 " i ran on a while slowing down

this is a worn 120gt ceramic cutting like new at max speed
