Where did you get the elk antler scales at ??? I need some for an up coming project!!! __________________ C Craft Customs With every custom knife I build I try to accomplish three things. Thanks C-Craft! I have lots of friends and relatives here in Nevada and Utah that hunt. I have some mule deer antlers that my daughter harvested a couple years ago that I will be using soon, and another set of elk antlers that my brother-in-law gave me that are "seasoning" Not the best handle material but it looks good, and "free" is a dang good price.

I have some a fellow maker sent me. I stabilized one beam with Cactus Juice, before I split it to get the scales! I was worried about the pith in the center of the antler, not sure it is necessary or not! Do you stabilize yours before you use it?? __________________ C Craft Customs With every custom knife I build I try to accomplish three things. I've read that it's not necessary if it's been properly seasoned, but I like to play it safe by filling the porous pithy area with ca glue after I've cut the scales to size. I'm certainly not an expert on the subject. Does using cactus juice work well? I've heard of it but never tried it before. Would love to hear input from others with experience using elk antler.
