New coal forge

Hi guy,

Thought i would share my new coal forge setup. Friend of mine called one night said he had an old franlink type stove he thought we could make up into a forge. So i told em to bring it by. we fliped it on its back and then took of the top and the doors and bam instant forge. Used sand around the air pipe and then fire brick on top of the sand. Missin in the pic is the blower I have the option of a hand crank(for soft coal) or electric which i use when i have hard coal. Havent had much time using it yet but the few times i did I was pleased with it.

No laughing at my baby railroad anvil either.

That my new forgin area for now....let me all know what you think.

If nothing else i am having fun!!

Hey man, good looking set up!

Having fun is what its all about!!!!

I started forging in a hole in the ground, and a shop vac for a blower, using scrap pallets for fuel. I remember "forging" spike nails into "knives" (more like non knives!) on a piece of broken granite that I got from a tombstone place. Wasnt very pretty, and not real efficient, but it worked!!! And boy was it fun!!

Good thinking putting it close to the outhouse so you dont have far to go when nature calls!!!

God Bless, and Happy Forging!!

Mike
