Ferric Chloride
Can I mix vinegar with the FC? Or should I use water? What proportions? Any other suggestions? Thanks. Ned

Ned, Use water. The two most popular ratios are 4:1 and 3:1 (water:ferric chloride). I've used both. Terry's Website

I mix it about 1/2 and 1/2 with water for a faster etch on cable damascus. Venigar(sp) will eat the scale off by soaking overnight, then wire brush. It can etch, but it is very slow.
