Oh I don't know, maybe some stainless bolsters comming down from the top and angled back a bit. Give em' a good 30 - 35 degree dovetail with some stabilized wood for handles. I think it'll make a nice camp folder. Is the blade damascus? It looks from the pic like unetched damasteel. Good luck bro. Keep the pics comming huh.

Is this a work in progress or is it finished? Picture isn't too good. If it's in progress it looks like a good basic design. The picture makes it look like the handle is bare metal - which can be OK some times - but I'd like to see some bolsters, scales, a thumb stud, and a notch in the side of the handle so that the lock can be released more readily. I'm having to assume that this is a liner lock but I suppose it could be a slip joint in which case it wouldn't ned the thumb stud ot notch .....

should have said more i guess....the picture is a scan so thats why it sucks it is a wip the scales will be SS just like the blade with some etching so it wont be so plain. i just didnt know if i like the way the blade to handle transition went.
thanks bill __________________ Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste death but once. --Shakespeare: Julius Caesar |

Hey, it's perhaps just a little different. The blade is larger than may be often used but there is nothing wrong. Because it isn't what I would call commonly seen,it just looks a little different. however different isn't bad, it's just different. I believe like Ray, that if you get something on the scales, it will make it a far more attractive knife and one that is more comfortable to use. Frank

Hey Omega, this is your first folder, isn't it? I like the basic design. It looks useful, and it doesn't look like a clone of anybody else's design. Keep us posted with more pics.

I think they both look interesting...
I also scan my thinner objects...I've found that a white t-shirt over the knife (or a sheet of paper and then the t-shirt), then Gamma-correcting at 1.5 once or twice does the trick [I use Paint Shop Pro]... |
