BOWIE-Soaring to protect the homeland
Soaring to protect the homeland, pic.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just finished this one up this morning, its been a challenge for an ol'hillbilly. OAL 12 3/8" w/ 7 3/8" blade. The blade was made by combining 4 billets. The stars started as one and were stacked several times then incorperated into the other 2 billets, then I wrapped the entire core with a 191 layer billet. The tang is continuous and is drilled and threaded to the pommel, the hardware is nickel/silver with curly maple handle material and sterling silver wire inlay, with the added touch of red, white and blue spacer material to show its true colors. The curly maple sheath has a nickel/silver throat ground to match the curve of the guard and too, is highlighted with sterling silver wire inlay. Thanks for looking Bill www.buxtonknives.com |

Bill,
I cant even begin to tell you how impressed I am. That is simply awesome. Personally, I could do without the wire inlay but the blade and handle really float my boat. Great work! Jerid |

Bill that is just beautiful! That's one of the nicest blades I've ever seen. That inlay just ain't showin no seams either! Right down to the way you turned the maple to show the best side, that is GREAT work!

Thanks so very much everyone for the nice compliments, they are truly appreciated. I like atempting different styles and patterns in all my knives and when I started this one I wasn't real sure where it might end up (scrap bucket or forsale list) it seemed like murphy was in my shop a great deal during the time I was working on this one, but as they say persistance pays off.
Thanks again, Bill |
