Dad - The King of Cow - Sandy Morrissey
Got a pleasant surprise this past weekend. I was conducting a one day hammer-in in Murphy, NC. at Crawford's Campground - dubbed "The Rocky Knob HI". About lunchtime a very distinguished mature gentleman tapped me on the head with his cane. It was Dad! Sandy Morrissey for you that don't know him. He's been hard to catch up with since his birthday in April - never home.
Just wanted you fellow leather workers to know he is upright, mobile, as alert and as opinionated as ever (he always wears me out on my sheath work!). He still is and always will be a treasure to all that know him. Asked me to tell all you guys HI! - so there it is. Love you Dad! (of course he probably won't see this....I think he shot his "commie &#%$#tor"). __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Old Dad! I learned a lot from him and his generosity was just unbelievable. I was having a pretty crappy day (actually crappy week) and seeing that Sandy is doing well brightened up my whole evening!!
Also good to see Don Robinson! Another good guy! My evening improved 200%!! __________________ God bless Texas! Now let's secede!! |

Dad will certainly light up the room! Those lights over his leather bench would give you a sunburn, and he always carries matches..... It's always a good thing to see and visit with him. He's a regular attendee at my hammer-ins. Has only missed two out of 34 events and plans to be at the 35th one this fall. Amazing talent and wealth of knowledge, completely turned my head around on my leather work (which was pretty much Fido's butt before I met him).
Glad I could share - someone took a pic of us talking at the event last weekend, but I haven't gotten a copy yet. Will post if/when I get is. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Dad said to tell everyone HI! He cam by the HI on Friday for a good long chat with his "Boys". Still getting around (just a little more deliberate) and still sharper than most us knifemakers.......
Always a good visit. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |
