Hi Ed

Pretty much new to the forum, but here is my 2c

How about Bohler's N690 for the diving knives, Extreme Ratio seems to use it for their combat divers knife with good results.

I've considered the N690, but it's biggest drawback is the cost factor....not only in the material, but in the processes of producing a knife from it. Although I've not detailed out the exact cost, I estimate using it would add about $100-$150 to the finished knife, and I'm afraid that would put it above most peoples' price point.

Hi Ed

Talk about swings and round abouts.

In South Africa, N690 is one of the cheaper steals and basically everybody uses it. To give you an idea, 3'4" x 3" piece will run to $73 with shipping and tax. Here you pay through your neck for ATS34 and what you would call, run of the mill stuff(440C).

Well just a thought

Good luck with your orders for the Wreck knives.

Very nice Ed.

BTW, do you know of any suppliers of Talonite?

Thanks,
Jim

Seems like Talonite has become somewhat rare these days......I think the "fade" sorta died out. I have to grin when I think about the first time I tried it.....and afterwards did some researching. Talonite is nothing more than stellite K6 by another name....a material that has been around since the last 1960s.

I've noticed that. Can't find any stellite either. I have a couple things I would like to make out of it since it is non-magnetic.
