Amboya burl edc
Finally got around to making myself a EDC.
1075/1080 from adimaral steel I coated the blade with APG #36 Refractory Cement before the quench blade is 3.75" long OAL 7.5" homemade pins brass, copper, and stainless the handle is amboya burl I ended up with a few small bubbles between the scales, but i will just fill them the next time i mix another batch of acraglas. Overall im happy with the result. Now to put on the makers mark, and finish the sheath. Hopefully i get some more orders when i go to show it off. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Other than finishing this knife today i also had the importunity to stop at a wood working store in Detroit and i made quite a find, there was a big bowl blank 7" x 7" x 2.5" of African Blackwood sitting under a lathe. No one wanted it because of a chunk missing on the face and wouldn't turn well. It had been there since 2010 i talked the manager into giving me a big discount. I picked it up for $30, it will yield quite a lot of handles, yep good day! [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by jdale; 03-22-2013 at 08:28 AM. |

Great-looking knife. The inlay pins are amazing, and the burl is nice. I'm super jealous of your blackwood find, too. I wish I had some of that.
