The best sewing is done by hand with the saddle/figure 8 stitch. Stronger and holds better if a stitch gets cut, broken, or worn through. Look up Wild Rose/Chuck Burrows.

Good looking machine, looks a lot like the Tipman boss, which I have and love. Really saves my hands when stitching.
Depending on the sheath design, I sometimes still hand stitch, at least certain parts. Depends on what I'm working on.
Hand stitching is technically stronger, but the lock stitch sewing machines use are more than adequate for most applications and won't come unraveled like a feed sack if one stitch gets cut or broken.
You don't have to have a stitching machine, but for me, who hates hand stitching, it's a great time and hand saver.

That machine he's demonstrating in that video is $1395
Kind of expensive for a beginner. I'm not a beginner, but I can't afford that. If you want to mess around with a hand machine Amazon has some for around $200 more or less, called a ETE ETMATE Hand Machine Cobbler Shoe Repair Machine Dual Cotton Nylon Line Sewing Machine. There are all kinds of YouTube videos showing how to work and adjust/modify these machines. They take some getting used too, but are affordable.
