To Mark or not To Mark , that is the question

I build alot of knives from bought blades ( untill I finish my grinder ) most people want to know why I don't put my mark on them , Because I didnt make the blade I tell them , I have one excelent customer that is starting to insist that I mark the knife . How could I mark these knives and still sleep at nite.

As always thanks for the input.

There are a lot of, sometimes really heated, threads on marking of blades. I'd recommend reading through them.

Hope this helps,
Jim

PS-there are a lot of strong feelings on this subject so be prepared when you read the posts

Drac is right, strong feelings, read the posts. The general consensus, I believe, is that there is nothing wrong with putting your name on the blade as long as you are upfront with the customer about how the knife was made.

You might consider using a generic type of name like 'Big D Knives' on the knives you make from kit blades. Later, when you make your own blades, use your real name on the knives. It would be wrong to stamp 'Handmade' on a knife that used a kit blade but there is nothing wrong with putting some kind of identifying mark on it - even your name - if you are honest about how the knife was made........

Hey Big D, I think it's neat that you asked the question, I'm guessing that there are some that wouldn't have.
