The problem we had last night apparently comes from a JAVA update that was no longer happy with the security certificate on my website. Some of you had trouble getting into the Chat Room and some didn't depending on the version of Java you are running and what kind of computer you use. For those who had trouble, I have a potential solution that has worked for me this morning:
1. Go to your Java Control Panel. On a PC, this means Start, All Programs, Java, Configure Java
2. Select the Security tab
3. Click the Edit Site List button
4. Use the Add button to add these two locations into the Exceptions Site List:
Code:
http://www.freejavachat.htm
Code:
http://www.rayrogers.com
Be sure to add those links in that order. After that, you should be able to get the Chat Room to open. It will probably give you a security warning but just click Run and it should continue. You can test all this by simply trying to open the Chat Room, if it opens everything is good.
ALTERNATIVE method for the computer literate:
If you are using something other than a PC, or even on a PC if you wish, you can Google for software that allows you to access IRC. I just did that and downloaded mIRC which cost me $20 but some others are free. If you are fairly computer savvy you can configure these programs to connect to server irc.ircstorm.net and then go into the chat room at #KNET If you can do that you will be in the same place we always hang out. One advantage to this method is that it can be used on any type of computer - PC, Mac, tablet, or phone.
