S30V or CPM420V
I just can't seem to get away from this stainless stuff!!! I am really trying to do more forging, I really am but a couple of folks just won't let me!!! They want the latest, greatest, "won't rust, bust, corrode or explode super high falootin' knife steel out there today" sort of knife.
So here I am in a da'limma where I have to order some steel from Crucible for just a few more ground out knives before I can really start with the pounded out stuff. What are ya'lls (as in youse guys) thoughts on either of the two steels mentioned above??? Craig __________________ "When I first started, I didn't know anyone that made knives. Definitely S30V. It has almost the perfect balance of wear resistance and toughness. IMO an S30V edge will outlast one in 420V because both are important for hard use knives.

Is that a theory or proven fact?
