slip joint

This is a slip joint that I finished up last week. I like makin' them, but I'm going to totally change the way that I make them from here on in. I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers, folks!

Trenton

As one slip joint Newbie to another I'd say that looks like a pretty good start to me, Trenton. I've been making liner locks for quite a few years but had never done a slip joint. Lately, my friend Ron Claiborne, has been having fun with slip joints and started pestering me to make one too. So I did, here's my very first slip joint:

The design and method of construction was heavily influenced by my experiences with liner locks. The sides under the ironwood scales are titanium and the knife is completely assembled with screws rather than pins. The blade and spring are O1.

Like you, I'm looking forward to doing some more slip joints and refining my process........

Actually, that almost exactly what I have in mind , Ray. Ti liners, and assembled with screws. It took me a day to figure out how to attach the spring because screws by themselves wouldn't be strong enough, and then it hit me as I was grivin' down the higway, use barrel pivots. They screw in from both sides, and the hardened still will be able to withstand the pressure that is on them.

Thanks for the comments,

Trenton
