Burl on Burl Fighter!
Im really happy with this one other than the fact that im trying to get a handle on doing clean hamon work.... but burl on burl makes everything better!!

Looks good but you still need to work those scratches out of the blade . I like the design and the handle is cool ..

Nice looking knife and I love the way the handle was put together. I'm with Ray though, those scratches really detract from the knife. If you want to improve it go back a couple of grits and sand the scratches out. Always make sure that scratches from the previous grit are out before proceeding to the next grit.
If you are dealing with a bare blade you can give it a coat of lay out dye and sand until you can see not more left. I've done it so I know. You're tired of sanding and you think that the next grit will get out what was missed from the previous grit. Well it won't.

Maple ! Are you working with hard maple or Big Leaf maple which is soft maple but comes with some wow grain ?

Doug the problem is that I'll hand sand the blade up to 600 grit and no visible scratches then etch to bring out the hamon.. After etch it looks like (along the hamon line) that I stopped at 60 grit... Why is that?
