Question In place of firebrick?

Ok, I want to get my forge ready to fire up today and try my venturi burner setup. However, I forgot a firebrick to place in the bottom. Is there something in place of a firebrick I can use because the only thing I can find close to here is ordering a pack of 6 for nearly $28 from home depot and I still wouldn't have them till thursday.

I coated a piece of .25 x 4" x 12" of flat with satanite, but I don't think it's going to do much because I can push it right off.

Just lay the flat steel in the bottom. Not ideal but it should suffice until you can get a brick. Check out http://www.hightemptools.com/ for your bricks, they will sell individual bricks ....

If you have a pottery place close , you can get kilm shelf material for the bottom.

I usually just put my blades in the forge in a stainless steel pipe.

If you are just running test on your torch, steel plate in bottom will suffice for temporary runs. I'd just lay a thickness of K-wool on the bottom and coat it with satanite until I get the brick. The brick can be installed later over the wool or the wool can be easily removed if need be.
If you can load it all in your truck plus some LP, bring it up to Doc's next weekend. Be glad to help you "ring it out".

Ever tried using oil dry in the bottom of the forge. Works wonders.
