Well, what's your excuse???

We sure haven't had much going on here for awhile.

How about livening things up a little bit?

My excuse is that I have a few folders ahead now, and I've gone back to gold and silversmithing. I haven't done any of that for several years.

I've been making jewelry for my great great grand daughter. Several rings, necklace drops, etc.

I haven't made a fixed blade knife for years. I may take a notion to make one. ???

Please tell us your excuses and post your work. Or questions!

Here you go Don. Top/front lock design I've been working on for quite some time. I recieved positive feedback from some good makers at the Boise show, so I went ahead and made a couple for Christmas gifts this year. The knife is unlocked by pulling back on the spring by the loop in front.
Does not make for a pocket carry knife, and I have not found a pocket clip that really flows with the design..................will keep working on that. As you can see, I've also not really made a decision on a thumb stud opening system either, but I think I have the general design figured out. Handle materials, stabilized black palm, red heart, black micarta, steel is all 1080, brass liners in .050 thickness.
Kevin.

Excuses huh?

EXCUSE ME!

Many know I still lurk here and answer a few from time to time.
New videos are poping up and a killer video due for the new year.
"Customized Knifemaking" will open the door to custom knifemaking in a whole new manner. Hand filed flat bevels, slotting guards with a dremel, this video is designed for those who may have no shop, big power tools, or idea how to get from just handmades to truely custom work.
I have been forging as of late, and hope to show some interesting stuff soon. (these blades will be featured in a future video called Project Mosaics) Mirror image mosaics, can welding and unfolding,etc...
I have classes each week and my students are learning lockback folders right now.
We also teach forging,etc...depending on the class.

My dear wife has some prayer needs right now. Health becomes an issue for her and I both, but her leg needs prayer as I write. She had a simple muscle biopsy so the doctors could find a missing enzyme that causes her severe muscle distress. The oporation did not go well, her leg has swollen up twice it's size and she can't even walk on it right now. It looks like they will have to go back in to fix it...after her having a stroke last January.
We have had a tough year, but we are still going and praising God for all he does in our lives.
We have a new grandaughter, great nephew, and a new pup as well.
My new web page should be up right after the new year, and we will all see something new when it happens. (hint-hint)

I could type excuses all day, but I'd rather be busy DOING.
So as I started this response, please EXCUSE ME!
I have to go take care of some of my excuses now.

God bless us all,
Geno

Gene, my prayers are with you and your whole family.

Vaya Con Dios, Amigo.

I've always admired mosaic and can welding. Anxious to see some.

Lots of excuses here, but none of them are any good..

Here are some titanium earnings I made for a friend, it was fun to make something a little "outside of my box".

Also attached is a knife I finish Monday, now I have just one more order for a fixed blade and them I am finally going to make a nice folder for myself!

I fixed a knife for a neighbor the other day, but can't remember how long before that since I made one. I have a box of unfinished projects I really should work on - if I could just find it.

Been focusing more on leatherwork. With some of the inspiration, teaching, and help from some of the experts on here, I feel like I should spend the time to learn the craft.

Geno, our prayers go out to your wife. Mine has suffered for years from a painful disease called RSD, so I know how much of an impact that sort of thing has on everybody.

Hey Don. As to who I am. Ha Ha. I guess I really don't post much! I'm in Montana, cold and snow right now. Been making knives for a few years, mostly hunters. Keep seeing some really nice folders and decided to give it a try, even bought a book or two on the subject, one about making a liner lock from a machinest point of view The black folder in the pictures went to our family paster this year, still have the other two. I'm happy with the general design, but I need to come up with a washer system or to relieve the inside of the liners a bit, the blades drag more than I like. I appreciate makers like yourself who can help with past experiences and sharing of information. I've spent a little time with Ed in Great Falls, he's just a couple hours away. Btw my name is Kevin.
