Kurt, I actually do it the same way you do. When I first assemble the knife I drive the pin into the rear hole, but after that it's easier to put the pivot pin in and out because there's less pressure on the front of the spring than the back.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

My book is about 80% complete now. I've been concentrating on building two slipjoints and the book showing every step. It takes a lot of time to stop, take a photograph, do the next step, and to write the text and edit all the photos.

This morning I put together the knives for the first time after heat treating and made the scales for one. Scales for the second one this afternoon after a satisfied nap.
