im at a bit of a standtill don, i need to recess the screws on the bolsters but i dont have the drill bit to do it, the one i used for the scales is a peice of cheap junk my mum bought me that wont drill metal. im considering just useing one thats too big but im not sure if it will look funny. once i get that done i just have to sand the bolsters, etch the damascus and a quick buff of the handle.

I'd get the right size drill.

Okay I finally had some time to cut out a blade and get it profiled. I am now getting started on the cutting the titanium. I will be cutting out the lock piece later and drilling pins probably next week. Too much going on at work. Been there seven days this week.

Hi brett this ismy first post.Hope I can offer something of worth. when cutting ti. I use a bansaw on low speed. Also when cutting the lock,I use my drill press with a1/16th x 4" cut off weel also low speed.I mount the linerin a samll drill press vice. I then line up the cutting with a line on the liner . Then move the wheel along the line. Ialso put a piece of wood behind the liner. Hope this is of some help

i maybe a bit of a brute, but i use a 0.6mm (0.024 in) abrazive wheel in my angle grinder (don't know if i'm saying it right)-and it works great, the cut you make is only a few thousands wider than the wheel and when you learn to work with it, you can have great results, needless to say, you have a nice fireworks while working and all these rumors about titanium sparks setting everything on fire-never happened to me...
btw, i cut steel, ti and almost every metal with it, it's really something.. |
