First Crack @ Damascus / Sword (Pic Heavy)

Well as a real newbie here, I was a little hesitant about making a functional sword. I opted to take the cheap route and ordered a blank that I could modify from our buddies in Pakistan .
When the blade arrived I realized I had several problems: It was bent and twisted, and the scale holes were not even. So after much help from this forum I managed to drill some new holes, straighten the twisted and bent portions of the blade and re-etch the blade.

Additional mods included adding a newer style of saw-teeth on the blade and black and gray canvas micarta scales in a rugged flocked pattern. Here are a few pics of the project as it progressed.

These first pics show the warpage and then in the drink for etching...

Here are some closer views...
Overall I was happy with how the project turned out. It is a 26 inch OAL, with an 18 inch blade that will allow me to reach out there and touch someone. As I mentioned the blade is not a high quality one, but I think I can get some use out of it while treading through the Everglades.

The sheath is a different story. I'd like a nice quality one but don't want to pay more than the sword itself cost. We'll see.
