Knife making terror!
I went out top the shop today, and made a Kydex sheath for a push dagger I just sold (I despise Kydex BTW).
I then did the initial drilling and grinding on five knives including one that I took all the way from billet and through profiling. Then I heat treated two stainless CPM-154 blades, a 1084 blade (clay-backed), and 1095 blade (also clay-backed), and a carbon Damascus blade. While they were in the oven tempering, I started final grinding on a stainless RWL-34 Damasteel blade that was heat treated yesterday. I got through 220 before calling it a day. I also have a cable Damascus gents EDC and a solid ATS-34 push dagger finished and awaiting sheaths. The KM24D is real handy, but I prefer the hands on nature of heat treating in my little gas forge. It feels great to be making knives again after nearly three years away from the grinder. All in all, a diverse day of processes. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

After reading that, I feel like I should really get off the computer and go out to the shop.
But......it's about 108 degrees out there right now, and no AC in the shop |
