Fired cure of Satanite?
G'day Gents,
Haven't been around here for a while, but I need some forge advice, and this is the first place that came to mind. I have almost everything I need, the inswool, satanite, itc-100, 2 proposed shells(just need to pick one) etc. I'm going to fasten a inlet pipe for the burner to the shell, and go ahead and line it, but I don't have the burner yet(trying to make up my mind on style/complexity) Simple question; I'm following the info here, where I got the stuff; http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eellis....html#Satanite Do I absolutely have to fire cure the satanite? or can I just let it air dry for a few days?( a week maybe?) Would be nice to have it ready by the time I get the burner assembled. Thanks for any help! Fire curing just speeds up the drying process. I have always just air cured any of the refractories I have used. Up where you live it will probably cure overnight.

Ah! Thank you.
Overnight? not unless it likes humidity, has been pouring rain for 4 days... Thats one reason I wanted to air cure it, I can do that in the basement shop, but I didn't want to fire it inside; I couldn't do that in the rain.
