Supplies in Canada ??
Good day every one
I am new to knife making and so is my daughter. My daughter saw a demo on knife making while visiting a friend in the USA two months ago. Well as it turns out she thinks it would be some thing we could do together . So I am almost finished a KMG clone grinder and a small solid fuel forge and have a lot of old files to start working on. I have been searching for a source of knife making supplies here in Ontario Canada but not having much luck. I know I could order from the USA but some times the duty and taxes could be a real killer so if any one could give us some info it would be greatly appreciated . Thanks for any and all the help Gary & Tiffany |

Knifemaker.ca has everything you will need. I'll mention it now as it will likely come up but you might want to order some 1084 steel to start. It's probably a bit more forgiving to heat treat than files. Keep us posted on your progress.

Where in Ontario are you? The Canadain knifemakers guild has a section down below. and check out Mossington knives for supplies as well. If you are in southern Ontario make plans to come to the Canadian knifemakers guild show march 9 and 10 on Airport road 4 points sheraton.Lots of good info there.

Thanks & belt order
Thank you for the replies. The grinder should be done by the weekend so its time to order some 2 X 72 belts. Could some one tell me what would make a good selection of belts to order . I already have lots of equipment for working on the handle part so the belts are mainly for steel.I will be ordering these from Canadian Knifemaker Supply or Mossington Knife Supply.

If you can't get AcraGlas then look for West Systems epoxy or maybe something from Loc-Tite...

If you do get some AcraGlas it will come with small packets of brown and black dye. Common acrylic hobby paints found in any hobby store also work. You only need a drop or two for most knife related gluing jobs. Don't use more than necessary as it can weaken the glue....
