Off Topic: What would you like Santa to bring you this year?
Just a little fun topic.
For me......I have my "Asked Santa for" and my "wildest dream" lists... Since Mandi has grown up, and is out on her own, our family has developed a unique method for our "Christmas lists"......basically it came about because I used to ask for specific tools, and Cindy would make me write down the EXACT item, and wanted a link from the internet to ensure she was looking at the exact item (usually some tool/gadget for the shop) Anyway, I asked for some parts to build a new shop computer with, and couple of tools....namely a "double drive" ratchet set, and some new "spyder" attachments for my sawzall. Aside from that, I asked for some new work jeans. Now for my "Dream list": http://www.ruger.com/products/sr40c/models.html http://www.ruger.com/products/no1Varminter/models.html in 6.5 Creedmoor Not much.....I'm easy to please. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

We're pretty low key and non-trad ourselves. I like cheap and practical if I can get away with it.
From my daughter and son who live in town I've asked that they plow my driveway (I've got a brand new snow blower for them to use). From my youngest, to sit down and watch a classic movie with me 2-3x a week for a year (part of her ongoing education). She just watched the Cowboys with John Wayne and loved it! My oldest daughter who lives in WA. She'll be tutoring me for my final math class before I start my Bachelors. From hubby, probably a small electro-plating set up for the studio. However I will NEVER turn down old rusty implements to add to the exterior shop walls. Julie __________________ Today I'm becoming who I once dreamed to be. |

Ed and Julie......all nice choices, indeed. I wouldn't mind a nice Ruger SR1911 or a Dillon 650 press setup......and, like you Julie, any equipment for the shop would be great.
For us all and families on this forum I would wish for the blessing of health and happiness. Dana |

We have a daughter visiting from out of town with two grandsons, so for us that's a good start. Family and friends looking over the loot with a big breakfast would be about right for me, but I like Ed's big boy kind of toys.
A while back when I was in the service, the kids would be up at o-dark-thirty tearing into their odds and ends. By eight, they were just playing with new toys and my wife would pretty much kick me out the door. She would clean up and start some late breakfast, I'd grab the shotgun and dog and not run into another soul for two or three hours. After that, lazy day. |

Well my son Mike is living with us now. So he will be here this year and I guess if I had to wish for something it would be that my Daughter Alyssa could be here too.... It's been a few years since I got to have them both here for Christmas... Maybe next year!!!

For my simple realistic list:
A few small shop tools, drill bits, supplies and the like. For the total dreamer in me and the unrealistic list: A san mai frame lock folder from Ed. A Don Hanson slipjoint folder with ivory A Jon Christensen two blade trapper with his leaf damascus And maybe a press or a power hammer, and more importantly...............space in my shop for either. And I hate to burst everyone's bubble but it's time you all know...........................santa isn't real. __________________ John Doyle You have nothing to fear but fear itself...........and bears. |
