Looks great, enjoy your shop.
Only advise, if you forge, get a CO detector. Like your knives. Gene __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

Congratulations Andy, I know you will enjoy the new space although I can't figure out how you will ever get your dust collection system installed in there.
Have fun, Carey __________________ Everything you do says something about who and what you are so ALWAYS sign your work with excellence. You are cordially invited to check out my web site: Handmade Knives by Carey Quinn |

Funny you should say that Carey! I bought a nice dust collector about a year and a half ago (maybe longer). It's been sitting in the box, never unpacked, because I have no room for it.
It's definately getting installed now! __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

Congrats Andy!
Looks like a good space, I have about 2.5 times the area but about half the bench space.... I look forward to seeing the first knife out of the new shop! G. __________________ http://ak-adventurer.net/ Gary Blessing, Ex-custom knife maker, Ex-Folder modifier & embelisher. |

A few more shots of what I did this weekend.
My buddy, that I grew up with, is a master electrician in Missouri. I called for over-the-phone guidance and he offered to come out in a week or two and help me wire it, since he had business in Wichita anyway--probably just cost me a tattoo. I still have to do the overhead insulation, but the walls are done and paneled. I can't wait to start moving in, but the next knife or two might still be made in the old digs. This is my insane buddy Larry (old Marine) and my wife being camera shy. I'm the fat guy in the black t-shirt. We painted it to match the house. Great weather to work if a bit windy. I think I'll make Larry a knife to say 'thank you'. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." Great looking shop Andy! Now finish building your grinder. It doesn't take that long. You'll need it.
btw, a tattoo guy is supposed to be nearly full suit. I couldn't even see one on you... |

lol My left arm is lower arm sleeved. It's behind Larry in the shot. That said, I'm not as inked as most tattooers--I can't afford it. I have a knife habit to pay for!
The grinder is next on the list Tracy! I promise a full in progress illustrated tutorial.
