What can you tell me about Flemish Daggers?
I have a customer who is interested in having me make him a Flemish Dagger. I did a google search and din not come up with much. Any info and pics would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chuck,
To my knowledge the "Flemish dagger" is on of the varieties on the bollock knife or kidney-dagger. Double edged most of the time. I'll see if I can find more about it in Flemish or Dutch internet sites. I'll keep you posted Jan, from Flanders, Belgium edit: It is hard to find wether they were more often double than single edged. Can't find more exact data at this time. The president of a Flemish reenactment group (period 1302) thinks the dagger evolved from Italy and came through Flanders in the 15th to 17th century Last edited by Jan Dox; 10-06-2003 at 03:27 PM. |
