etching logo in damascus
I was so eager to see the pattern in my1st piece of damascus that I etched it after I had forged and ground it into a knife blade that i think I should have etched my logo in then masked it with resist , then etched the whole blade .Is this correct or can i still etch my logo in?

Thank you Ron,I will give that a try when I get home from work and see how it goes.Just a simple twist of wrought iron/1084, but I am really jazzed anyway. Ironbasher

Some thing you might want to do Build A Plato to place the logo
When you have the blade ready for etching the pattern out do a few etches fast to the point that you can see the pattern well all over the blade ?not deep just clean and crisp , locate where you want to put your logo cut a peace of tape like a football or any shape you like that your logo will fit in put the tape on continue the etching process to the look you want clean it up sand the high points , remove the tape now you have a blade that is etched and a Plato to place your logo in but the pattern will be seen running through the Plato and it being etched less than the blade will look nice and be seen a touch of something different and that?s what we want I think just a thought it looks cool this is not my idea they did knives like this years ago with names and sayings in the blade Bowie __________________ Bowie Thunder Mountain Forge |
