Do you still have your old RKS membership card?
As you guys have seen in my last couple of threads, I was smarting a bit from being banned over on the old forum.
As with all of us, we were proud to be members of Rhett's RKS forum. Rhett did so much to inform and connect us all as a group. He even had ethical rules for behavior, showing his level of care for all the members. I appreciate all that he brought to the collectors community. His passing seemed to scatter us to the winds and had an impact on the group. My disappointment at being banned from his old forum has been due to thinking that I was banned from HIS forum. It dawned on me....duh...that the group that I was banned from is not the RKS. I believe it was bought by someone else and renamed. So, no big deal. The haze has lifted, I feel much better now! I am digging for info in past threads on this forum, and there is a wealth of info here, contributions of many long time, knowledgeable members. I am so thankful that I held on to my old RKS membership card. So....who still has their old RKS membership card? Let's see pics guys. Who possesses the oldest RKS membership card? Please post the picture of your membership card, then, if you have a anecdotal story about Rhett, please share it with us. Even if you don't still have your card, if you have a story, please share it. I did meet Rhett at Blade, and enjoyed the RKS meetings on Saturday morning at the Blade show. One year, I won a wallet made from crocodile by Greg Gutcher, and it was given to me by Rhett. He had invited me to the Meadows of Dan to his gallery, unfortunately, I never made it. Here is a pic of mine. Regards, Sam Last edited by samg; 10-08-2015 at 01:21 PM. |

Well, I wasn't collecting Randalls in time to have joined the RKS, though I would have. However, several buddies, my twin brother, and I were USING Randalls in Vietnam in 1966-68. Maybe we could qualify for a card using the unspoken "grandfather" clause? LOL
Twin brother, 5th SF in Vietnam. (left) 1966 sharpening his toothed model 14 (probably only picture from Vietnam of this type), and (right) 1967 preparing meal in field. sheath only visible. More recent photo of the "A team" still good to go... Last edited by Jacknola; 10-14-2015 at 04:13 PM. |

Awesome pics Jacknola! Knives used for their intended purpose.
Sure will look closer when I come around bushy corners! That would definitely get your attention. Sure is better than a membership card. You guys are wearing your ID! Regards, Sam G |

Hi folks!
I still have my Randall Knife Society membership cards. (We got new ones every year,) And I will treasure them always for the memories of Rhett they evoke, and of his wonderful contribution to the world of Randall collectors. RKS - There will never be another, only self-serving imitations... Cheers! David __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

I still have a few, I believe.
Rhett certainly was a gentleman in the truest sense! __________________ I love all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy. www.BirdogForge.com |
