tiny torx
Hi, newbie to the forum here.
I have this H&K folder I'd like to take apart to rehab. I lost it and it lay outside for two years.
Where can I get the small torx? I've googled up some little ones but not sure if they're small enough. Anybody know what size range I should be looking at? Shucks if they had it at the hardware store I could find out, but they seem to be a pretty specialty item.
Thanks.

Factory knives that I've come across vary in screw sizes, my shot is 1-72, 2-56 maybe even a 4-40. Take one out and check at a local hardware store.

That size I'm guessing is in the t6-t8 range. Look for electronic toolkits, like what the website ifixit odds are those will have the tiny bits you need, as well as the ones that are just handy to have

Problem with Lowes, or any of the big stores is they may have the #######, but not the screws. The smallest they carry is like 4-40, nothing smaller and some of those are probably 2-56, or smaller metric than 2.5 m screws. I even went to a Fastenal store and they don't carry small folder screws either. May have to buy a screw gauge and order online unless there is a fastener store that does carry itsy bitsy screws.
Big pain, especially if the screws are metric as with some of the small ones they might fit in a standard size gage, but a little loosely. You don't want loose fitting screws. If there are any specialty hardware stores where you live or even a Fastenal they should have gauges you can check them with.

from the post, and pic (still having all the screws) it seemed he is looking for the tools not the screws.
if he does want replace screws, then look up knife suppliers. most likely those in the pic are 2-56 button head screws.

I have the kit from ifixit and it has everything you would ever need. I get my screws from Amazon or knife kits.com everything from 0-80 on up.

As epicfail48 suggested, the range from T5-T8 will cover you. I've liked Wiha for fit but if this is an occasional use tool no need to overspend on #######.
Thinking of those Wiha #######, I really like them. Unlike the .05" hex keys from a variety of makers that don't fit many of the fasteners well. Trying to match the driver to fastener and fastener spec is all over the place. Frustrating feeling.
Rambling off, at $.03-$.05 a fastener a wrench that cams out ruins them and for as much as folders are disassembled in the process, that cost adds up. Good sharp well fitting tools, good spec fasteners, makes the process nice. Part of the game though we want to be efficient because this all adds up over the years. Same gripe with drill bits. Uh-oh I can get going there...
