Hard knife to photograph
The finish on this knife is a challenge to photograph. In a certain light it looks almost black, but shift the light just a little and you get this:
I'm really not sure what the best lighting would be. Anybody got any ideas? Last edited by Buddy Thomason; 10-06-2007 at 04:18 PM. |

Buddy, I think you pulled it off admirably. Nice photo, and nice knife!

Thank you Don. I appreciate your feedback given the difficulties I sometimes have in being objective concerning my own work. For example, I can remember when I thought the following picture of the same knife was 'the cat's meow.' In all the visual arts it seems like the most valuable, yet difficult, ability to cultivate is 'seeing.'

Blued knives will drive you up a wall. People think that mirror finishes are hard but there're really easy compared to some of the blued damascus. You captured it well.

You can capture it light or dark. Either way is correct.... Coop |

Buddy I need your eyes. Like you, the dark one looks good---till I look at the light one. Very, very, good.
