Ancient Chinese knife... need Info
I have just Aquired an ancient (ming dynasty.. not really that old) short sword.. or it may be the head of a spear.
It is made of bronz.. and has a really thick green patena on it. Under the patena is a lot of markings.. but I cant see them.. you can barely see parts of them.. in small areas. I was wondering if anyone knows.. if I should clean this and get rid of the patena or keep it as it is... would I lose a lot of value? Is there any place anyone knows of online where I could learn more about this object? |

Generally the rule is don't clean it! Until you know what you have you are taking a big risk in losing any value. You may want to try Bernard Levine for an estimate
