Your worst Bite?

For those of you who flip your balisong regularily and practise routines and work out with them... what has the worst bite from a blade you've ever gotten? ive had a fair amount but i think i may have had my worst tonight... they all seem to happen when im careless or trying to throw them open... this time i actually completed the throw and catch and as i was closing i caught my right ring finger on a part of the serated blade as i slipped my hand to fast between the bite handle and the blade as it was closing... the handle hit it and dragged my finder mabye a half inch down the blade making the cut longer and deeper... blead like crazy...

but ive figured out a new method for cuts you get from the balisong or a sharp knife... apply pressure to it for about 3-5 min... continuously wipe blood away... and quickly coat it with a semi thick layer of polysporn or vitaminE and the blood will cease (wont bleed through the polysporn)... leave it un-covered for about 30-45mins... and then put a bandage/s over the laceration and leave that on until the next day... then remove it and let it dry out... and your back flipping your bali at full speed the very next day... even tho you'll still be slightly off due to the irritation...

so what was your worst bite? and what did you do about it?

My worst cut due to one of my balis wasnt even to me, it was my fiance, i stabbed her by accident... it was a total freak accident, but everything turned out fine in the long run... she knew it was an accidnet and wasnt mad at me... she needed 4 internal stiches and 7 external ones in her forearm... those of us here from the other forum remeber when I posted about this... thouse of you who dont know... just go to the "other bali forum on the other knife forum site" and do a search for "emergency room" and look for a post created by me...

Hey Pete! My worst bite was from a golden retriever in the early 80's. I think I had 8 or so stitches, all external in 4 diff't tooth holes. It was a remarkably gentle experience, the dog decided he wanted a bite and just snapped down on my arm and then seemed a little confused. Didn't shake or continue biting. The owner (my friend) came running screaming and the dog just let go! It really didn't hurt until I got to the hospital and they started disinfecting it... that sucked.

But my worst balisong cut.. was with the *unsharpened* swedge of my 29K khukuri. I was doing a transition move from reverse to forward grip with my left hand. Somehow I had gotten into the bad habit of holding the ends of the handles instead of rolling it over and the blade wasn't short enough to do that on this one. It ground it's way through the fleshy part of my index finger close to my palm. I screamed and cried like a baby. Then I applied pressure forever, attached a butterfly bandaid, neosporin, regular bandaid and cried some more like a baby. I actually took a picture of it, but couldn't find it, musta been too gross and I deleted it.

I was flipping with my "sidewinder" bali, and had finished for the day (my wife had yelled at me because the clacking was driving her nuts), I put down the knife (with my left hand) and happened to glance at my right hand to discover the back of the right middle finger was laid open! I didn't feel a thing until I saw it, then I whimpered.

I superglued it and lived.

Ironically, my worst bite from a bali was my last bite. That was when I had a lapse in concentration and ricocheted a BM 49-01 off my index finger. I knew it was gonna to be a bad one, but it didn't hurt when it struck. But when I went to examine the wound, I saw the ivory color of my bone once the skin parted. Then it was a matter of flying to the bathroom to get my first aid kit, and applying a couple of strips of suture tape....

Lessoned learned: Even if it's safe to ricochet the 49 (about the first inch from the tang) don't do it. It's a sharp puppy....

worst

Cleaning, oiling, sharpening, not even flipping, moved to set one aside after the final stroke on the bench stone ( black hard Arkansas), hit the edge of the table and dropped it. Socks, no shoes. Sock turend half blood red and half original white. Left a one inch scar. Blood every where.

Moral? Now I don't do PM without shoes on.

OUCH funny though how they never really hurt untill after... and how it always happens when your not concentrating... and u almost always know its going to happen just before you infact do it... its horrible with serated blades tho... i dont remember how many times i've caught the blade with the tips of my fingers while opening it really quick... always while not really paying attention...
