2 motors for sale DC varible speed

I no longer carry DC motors as I've opted for AC motors and VFDs. I have 2 motors that I've been kicking around the shop for a year or so and I've decided to get rid of them for the space.

Both of these motors are essentially new...but have been used for demostrations, and hammer-ins. I doubt that they have more than 2 hrs running time on them. But, they been lugged around the country in the bed of my truck as I traveled from Hammer-in to Hammer-in and they show signs of exceesive handling...being scratched and dinged a bit.

Anyway, both are in perfect running condition.

Motor 1: 1 hp PM DC. Leeson 108022 90V 1720 RPM $80

Motor 2: 1-1/2 hp PM DC Leeson 108265 180V 2500RPM. $100

Both motors have a foot mount and a 56C Face.

As with all my stuff....if you don't like it....I'll take it back. My goal is to make room and get rid of stuff that is cluttering the shop. If they don't sale for these prices.....keep your eye out....because I'm gonna reduce it by 50% and try again....then I'm going to try to give them away....and if still no takers...they are going in the dumpster. (hee hee...I hate clutter!)

Drop me a line if you are interested.

Rob,

If I had the $$ to spare I'd jump on the 1hp, keep me in mind if you can't find a buyer, I should have some extra shekels in a week or two...

Enjoyed talking to you at Blade, I'm the fella with the brown AC/DC baseball cap...Hope to see you this fall at Bowie's Hammerin...

Thanks again for your advice on wiring my 1.5hp Leeson AC motor!

Regards,

Mike Roesch

Hey Rob, I have a AC, 1 hp, 56c motor on my "burr-king" (bought used). What's involved in switching to a DC with V. Speed ?

Rob must be out on the road, but I understand the 1hp is no longer available.

According to his post above, Rob is getting away from the DC's. I don't know if the Variac controlers for AC will work on your motor, if so, that may be an option. Looking forward to his response.

This requires swapping your motor with one that is variable speed. Your motor will have the frame size listed on the name plate....simply buy a replacement VS motor with the same name plate frame size. I believe for the BK this is a 56C with a pedistal mount. This is a very common motor size. It will be a direct replacement such that all the bolt holes line up exactly. Your current motor cannot be speed controlled and will need to be replaced with one that is VS. You have 2 choices: DC or 3ph-AC w/VFD.

Single phase capacitor start AC motors are not capable of variable speed in a practical sense for our applications. The speed of AC induction motors is controlled by the AC frequency (i.e 60 hz). A variac is a varible transformer which changes the voltage...but maintains the same frequency. DC motors on the other hand change speeds with voltage....so you can use the variac on DC motors...but rectify the AC output to DC ...bingo bamo! ....you're in business. This requires a "chip" from radio shack for a couple of dollars.
