Well maybe his point is on the fact that most japanese traditions (if not all, and please correct me if I am wrong) did not temper the blades after hardening. It is nonsense though...
The horseback thing sounds logical, though I am not sure about it. But again, MD knives were not supposed to be used on horseback are they? And what is his sujestion if his knife breakes? Ops.. Les already got that.. you must buy, sorry, carry two blades in case the first is messed up. You see, I have never seen or heard of MD knives before I've got to this thread a couple of days ago, and I spent some time looking around their website and statements around the net. I would never trade a custom for any such knife and I do find it very unusual that they have such high prices. Just my 2 cents too |

COOP ,you know how we Tribalsmiths feel how a knife should preform.MD seems to be pitching to the general public and the military minded.
1: A KNIFE IS NOT A CROWBAR 2: A KNIFE SHOULD NOT BREAK IF IT IS BEING USED AS A CROWBAR. 3: A KNIFE SHOULD NOT TAKE A SET IT SHOULD SPRING BACK. And that my friends is a tempered knife __________________ Friends may come and go but enemies accumulate. NT screaming gamecock Gann |
