A couple for Christmas

Hi,

Here are a couple of knives I did for Christmas this year. This first one is a gift for my brother -in-law:

It's about a 3" S30V blade with presentation pearl.

This second one is one I did as trade for a shelf system in my shop:

It's a 7" S30V blade with stabilized ambonia burl.

The pearl handled one was suppose to go to Tim Herman for engraving and both were to go to Coop for photos but time was against me on this try. Both of them did get to go to Sandy for sheaths (which turned out great), but I didn't have time to photograph them before mailing out. Sandy said he took some pictures so I hoping they'll appear in the sheath forums soon. The sheaths went great with the blades, cross draw for the spear point and a dangly sheath for the fillet.

Thanks for looking,
Jim

Jim, They look great Buddy ! They both look super but that Filet knife has a really good flow to it. I really like that one. Thanks for sharing them with us.

s30v fillet knife - great deal (nice looking knife to boot!) That upward sweep really makes a difference in use too. Lots of belly for slicing, but still narrow enough to be flexible.

Dang Jim, I'm gonna have to copy that design!

Steve

Thanks Steve,

I see by your site you have the same love/hate relationships or at least a large masochist streak in you. The design is a pretty basic one, from what I've seen on your site, if you use it I'd take that as a major compliment.

The customer wanted a blade without a lot of flex so this one is 1/8" S30V. Not much flex in it, but I'd imagine it would be a lot more flexible with 3/32". All in all it feels more like a fighter in your hand than a fillet. I really am looking forward to his feed back on how it works.

Thanks again,
Jim
