Atlanta - Blade Show

I managed to get a bit of time off scheduled and decided to take a road trip and visit a few friends and relatives. As it happens, I have a sister in Marietta, GA and my time off is around mid-June. Barring any unforseen circumstances, that means I can visit the Blade show. I've never been to one before, so I'm kinda looking forward to it.

Question is, who's gonna be there and what cool stuff should I make a point of seeing??

Anybody mind if I walk up, introduce myself, and check out the merchandise?

Get ready to be overwhelmed! The show is generally broken down into 4 sections, ABS, Guild, Custom Knifemakers, and All Other.

The ABS section is to your right just as soon as you walk through the door, not sure how everything else will be positioned.

The show is so large, and there is so much cool stuff there that you simply cannot take your time and see it all in three days. Most people devise a plan of attack, and if they get all they planned accomplished, they will use the rest of the any remaining time to "browse".

If it has to do with knives....it's gona be there!

I'll be there Friday and part of Saturday. Wife is making the travel arrangements now, still working on the hotel. Unfortunately I have to fly out Sunday for a week's worth of training. So I have to fly from Atlanta to Dallas on Saturday than fly out Sunday morning to DC.

Looking forward to putting some faces with names.

Jim

Walking through the doors of the Blade Show for the first time is an experience to remember. Ed put it very well when he said to "Get ready to be overwhelmed!"
It's a good idea to spend some time looking at the floor layout, finding the makers that you want to see, and mark their location. A copy is in the Blade magazine. The Guild section is on the left going in, The ABS is on the right. Handmade knife makers on the far left and retail/collectable knives "N" stuff on the far right. It's one of those kind of places that if you start out heading for a table in the back, with no intentions of getting side tracked, you still won't make it before it's time to take a break. Too many great knives to see and people to talk to. Charlie and I will be at table 19M. Stop by and check out what we do.

It is getting bigger every year and that means more knives to look at. I am looking foward to being there again. This year I will be at table 12R. Always like to visit with some one about knives.

Since Jon's being modest, I'll tell ya that you have to stop by and see his Mastersmith dagger! Jon's testing for his MS this year, and that dagger is just super!

Wasn't modesty banned from this forum?

Sorry, couldn't resist that after reading a few other threads today.

Keep posting on this thread - I am taking notes!!!
