Traditional Dogbone Bowie

This one is the first that I've made since getting back into my shop. It was inspired by the recent articles in Blade by Dr. Batson. I didn't try to duplicate of any of the knives shown there but simply to have the same feel.

The blade is forged from some W2 round and the handle is walnut. The handle inlets & pommel wrap are silver. This one has a hidden tang with a recessed pommel nut which is hidden beneath the pommel wrap. What appears to be the edge of a full tang is silver inlet.

Let me know what you think.

Gary

That is amazing work Gary! Some serious forging and especially so since it was round stock. I really love your traditional style knife renditions and you do so many great ones! I am sure the museum tour in Little Rock helped keep that fire alive! See you in Branson in September!

Thanks, Tony. I really enjoy the old recreations. I'm already working on one that I saw in the museum that will be my most ambitious.
