Smile Newbie KITH?

It has been a while since we've done one of these, and I've noticed that we have a new group of people to the forum. Some of them are just new to the forum, but some are new to knifemaking as well.

So, for the newbies out there, how many of you might be interested in a Newbie KITH?

For those that don't know, KITH stands for Knife In The Hat. It's a friendly exchange among knifemakers--you make a knife to the best of your ability, you are drawn the name of another participant in the KITH, and you send your knife to that person. Likewise, someone else draws your name, and sends you a knife they make. It's a way to get more practice in, and for the Newbie KITH, a way to get feedback on your skills.

More information about KITH's can be found here: http://knifenetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40471

I'm willing to run the KITH if there is enough interest. Just post a reply to this thread to let me know if you would like to participate. If we get this going, this would be the 3rd Newbie KITH we've done in the last 4 or 5 years.

I don't plan to have a theme, unless there is overwhelming support for selecting one. I think this can be used as an opportunity for new makers to test their skills and for guys with a little more experience to try something new to them.

So, you might ask, do you have to be a newbie to participate, and what do I consider a newbie? Basically, if YOU consider yourself a newbie at knifemaking, even if you have a few years under your belt, heck, even if you have a couple of decades under your belt and want to try something new, you are welcome to join in the fun!

So, who's in?

That's great, Shank! I was hoping you'd be one of the ones to sign up.

That KITH was a lot of fun, and I think that was my second or third knife.

By the way, since a lot of the true newbies were concentrating on getting the knives made, the sheaths were optional on that last KITH. We can do the same with this one.

I'd like another crack at it. I'm downright embarrassed at what I sent out the door last time. I have one on the bench that has real potential.

I am interested in participating. About how long would we have for completing the knife once the KITH begins?

We can figure that out once we see how many people are going to be in on this one. Personally, I'm thinking end of March for the deadline. That's 3 months (like any of us are going to get anything done over the holidays). I figure that's plenty of time for us to get a knife done (and maybe a backup. . . )

I'm in on this one. I've got one under my belt and it was great to see all the knives. I just completed my first hollow grind (not HT'd yet) so hopefully I've got a few more tricks under my sleeve since the last one.
I had to back out of the Kitchen KITH due to family circumstances but I'm going to aim for a much earlier completion this time so nothing can interfere.
