I got myself an anvil, hammer, and a reg and hose set up from Darren Ellis.
The boss cut me a nice stump (and gave me a ham).
The inlaws gave me some cash which will buy the new 100lb propane bottle.

My wife bought me an X-Box 360... As if it wasn't hard enough to find shop time!
God love her!

I just sold mine because I wanted a 2x72 grinder and I was spending more time in the shop than on the 360. They are awesome though and the games are still better on a 360 than a PS3.

My loving wife bought me a metal cutting bandsaw for Christmas this year, last year she got me a Grizzly 2x72 belt grinder. ( Yep she's a Keeper )
I also got a really sweet knife from AlanR in the X-mas KITH.

Have you been able to get the workrest mounted on that thing? I just got mine and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to mount it

Jason I had it mounted to the base somehow, but found it to be a bit of a crutch. I felt that I needed to learn how to Free-hand grind before I started relying on jigs and fixtures. I'm still in knife grinding 101 .

Got a bench grinder, and a stand for it from grandparents.
Pair of really long handled pliers, which I could use as tongs for small items if I didn't mind removing the temper in them.

For my birthday back on the 12th I got a 4# integral sledge and a shop stool.

Jayson I had a friend get a new grizzly in Yukon not long ago.The only way the rest could be mounted was to use only one bolt in the motor mount and angle it up 45 degrees to get your rest mounted 90 degrees to the belt. I know the directions showed two bolts holding it but wouldn't work that way. My Christmas this year was a soldering iron set up from Good Ol Tom Buchanan.

beautiful chest Julie! (one of the few times u can say that to a stranger without risking getting slapped ) did you use paint or dye for the flowers?

as for grizzly workrests....i didnt care for mine at all, way too flimsy. making an aftermarket one is probably the best way to go.

AUBE -

The flowers were low relief carved using a combination of my gravermach with magnum handpiece with the GRS woodcarving bits and hand held flexcut chisels. It was detail contoured with a high speed handpiece with diamond and greenstones. I JUST LOVE MY TOYS!!!!!

The letters are incise carved into the wood about 1/8th of an inch into the surface and using my pyrometer burned to accent them against the lighter stained wood. I just started doing that the Kingdom Thrones where the first I really like it, gives a nice clean line.

It was painted with acrylics and clearcoated with a soft luster varathane.

Well, I think I got the most useless and most useful gift all in one. It will not have anything to do with making the knives but will allow me to stay for a long time in the shop without coming out. My wife got me a bar fridge for the shop. I will load it with diet pepsi and water, no alcohol in the shop, and I can go for days. If I ever get in there again.
