Question Blue Blades

I saw a fixed blade hunter which had a very shiny blued blade. I 've never blued anything so I tested with some 1095. It is polished to almost mirror finish ,and after blueing it was pretty dark and dull. So, I tried to polish it very lightly but the blue won't stay on. Someone told me it would need to be blued five or six times. I have'nt tried that yet, but another question came to mind and that has to do with heat treating. IF I'm able to achieve a polished blue finish, will it survive HT?? Note; I'm using the Birchwood-Casey gun blue. I have heard of the HOT blue method but I don't think I can get into all that right now. Whatever information anyone has will be helpful, even if if I have to abandon the blue blade idea. Thanks WALKER
