New home-built grinder!

Tracy Mickley's No Weld Grinder/Sander really works!

Mine is done (nearly). Here are just a couple of shots from the full in progress pictorial over on the original thread.

I know..., it's as ugly as a hairless dog, but I spent about half what I would have for a Bader or KMG with the same capabilities, and it was fun to boot!

As hairless dogs go, I've seen much worse. A little paint will dress that baby right up. Good job, Andy!

To tell you the truth, I couldn't make decision choosing between a hairless dog and a hedgehog...

Since you already mentioned a hairless dog, I realized that there is another analogy between this grinder and a hairless dog.

As long as they are useful & efficient, it doesn't matter what they look like!!!

But...

If you and your hairless dog still want to win a beauty pageant, there are only a few things more to do about your grinder:

- do whatever & everything you have to do about getting all parts in the alignment

- use your back-saw and cut off all excessive bolts & arbors

- WELD IT ALL ( properly )

- remove all those unnecessary outstanding screws, bolts & nuts

- put some paint over all unmovable parts

- fulfill your application forms for that beauty pageant I mentioned above

P.S.: excuse my French , it's not my native tongue...I have a lot of will, but there is a lack of knowledge & practice... Generally speaking

Please give us a review of how well it works when you get a chance...I'm interested in trying one myself. I'm mainly looking for good tracking and small wheel (1/2"-1") attachment options.

It won't be welded. This was discussed in detail in Tracy's original thread. It's solid as a rock and everything is already lined up very well. After I run it out through a few knives, I'll have more comments to be sure, but my preliminary evaluation can be read here.

As for looks..., I may shoot some spots with paint, I may not.
