The Monster

Normally this is the forum where i think i belong. But in this case i had to put a thread into another forum for obvious reasons. So if you're interested in a funny story which is all but tribal or simple, please feel free to look here:

Hey, you only get to live once. Might as well do something wild and crazy and earn acclaim for it. Kudos to you for taking this on. Hope it goes well.

Looks like you need a furnace set up i saw at a uranium extrusion processing area. Could heat it up to 2000*-3000* under an inert atmosphere and thrn press it out an extrusion die using a crapload of psi (400,000 seems to come to mind). Presto...2.5" round bar from 48"x12"x12" hunks!

They went out of business several years back...you could probably pick the unit up cheap!

We're done. Absolutely perfect welds, no flaws. No problems, all went smooth and well. Right now we have two "rods" of 200" by 13" by 4 1/2" that need to be soft annealed (sunday), ground and cut (monday) and rolled out to between 4" and 1/2" depending on the gusto of who will use them. That's a nice 3-colour damascus. Will put more pics on my website tonight.

Sure looking forward to see the etched piece. What did the sign say that was in German writing? I'm of German decent, but embarrassingly don't speak the lanquage.

Wow....that's a big ol' press! can't wait to see the final product!

We used to have a sign on a 36,000 ton brake press that said "Placing your body between the jaws, might result in your death." Gotta love OSHA!
