Welcome to TKN. I used to work on an ALS/MICU ambulance myself and my wife is still doing it after 23 years. If you hang out here for while you will get some great ideas of what you would need to get started. Be sure to ask questions and check out the "newbie" sub-forum.

If you fill out your profile other members will notice where you are from and you may end up finding another maker nearby.

Welcome aboard, I'm relatively new here myself. There is a lot of useful information already here and a lot of friendly people who will do their level best to answer any questions you may have. As far as equipment you can start with simple hand tools (files, sandpaper etc.) or power tools. Basically it depends on how much money you wany to spend. The one tip I can give you is don't spend a lot of time and effort trying to make knives out of some unknown scrap/used steel. Go ahead and buy some from a place like admiral steel or one of the knifemaker suppliers, because it comes annealed and ready to work and you know how to heat treat it. Also get as many hard copy catalogs from the knifemaker supply places as possible. They are a great reference and easier than swapping back and forth from one website to another. Again welcome aboard and have fun.

Welcome to the neighorhood...it's a great place to live! I just moved back after being gone awhile..I think there's still a SEARCH forum here, that will answer just about any question you can ask. Enjoy the ride....T-wolf
